Five US commercial groups have asked the US government to ease sanctions against Burma last month, a move that was met with praise from the business community in Burma.
On February 18, the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, the National Foreign Trade Council, US-ASEAN Business Council, the US Chamber of Commerce, and the UK Business Council International sent a letter to the different departments of the United States was asking the government to loosen the sanctions in an attempt to improve the relationship between Burma and the United States.
